On Wednesday, June 11th, HBC's "Hokkaido Agri Kingdom NEXT" covered Hokuryu Town's sunflower watermelon. Viewers were given gifts, and the children experienced harvesting and polishing, as well as tasting. The Agri Kids were impressed by the producers' efforts and the sweet, juicy watermelon. Encouraged by the children's "delicious" reaction, the producers expressed a strong desire to continue making sunflower watermelon a major Hokuryu Town specialty into the future by training new farmers and expanding cultivation.<\/div>\n

On Wednesday, June 11th, a broadcast interview on the Hokuryu Town sunflower watermelon by Agri Kingdom Hokkaido NEXT (HBC Hokkaido Broadcasting) was conducted at Takada Co., Ltd. (Representative: Takada Shunki).<\/p>\n

When the children eat the food and say it's delicious, it soothes all the hard work that my husband and all of us staff have put in, and it gives us the motivation to keep working hard!<\/p>\n

Takada, the union president, is enthusiastic<\/h4>\n

The number of producers is decreasing, but new farmers are now starting to cultivate. They are gradually increasing the cultivated area. A training farm has been established, and currently three trainees are studying hard. We are also constantly recruiting and making efforts to increase the number of young producers.<\/p>\n

It is my sincere hope that throughout the long history of sunflower watermelon, we will continue to preserve the historical cultivation methods while also evolving and moving forward.<\/p>\n

We hope that sunflower watermelon will become one of Hokuryu Town's top specialty products in the future.<\/p>\n
