"The Japanese quince is ripe!" Nakajima-san said with delight, so we immediately went to visit the Nakajima Family Natural Garden!<\/p>\n

Kokwa at Nakajima Family Natural Garden<\/h2>\n

This is a Japanese quince tree that Nakajima planted in the ground after receiving it from an acquaintance over 10 years ago!<\/p>\n

Supported by iron pipes, it is growing big and strong!<\/h3>\n

Kokwa is the original species of kiwi fruit<\/h2>\n

The wild nut, Kokwa (monkey pear), is the original species of kiwifruit, also known as baby kiwi.<\/p>\n

Kokuwa (monkey pear) is a deciduous climbing plant that belongs to the genus Actinidia in the family Actinidiaceae. It is also called "monkey pear" because monkeys mistake it for a pear and enjoy eating it.<\/p>\n

The fully ripe fruit is so sweet and juicy that it melts in your mouth and you can eat it with the skin on!<\/p>\n

When cut in half, it looks like a small kiwi fruit!<\/p>\n

The original species of kiwifruit, the Japanese quince, has a low reproductive ability and is therefore considered a valuable nut that is difficult to obtain.<\/p>\n
