The training lectures were titled "Health Promotion in the Elderly and Hokuryu Town's Initiatives" and were given by Ms. Naoko Uchida, Chief of the Nursing Care Prevention Section of the Resident Affairs Division of Hokuryu Town Office, and Ms. Megumi Murai, Chief of the Community Welfare Section of the Hokuryu Town Social Welfare Council. The lecture was also titled "A Shining Charm in Hokuryu Town" and was given by Ms. Noboru and Ms. Ikuko Terauchi, administrators of the Hokuryu Town Portal.<\/p>\n

The small block training session for the Sorachi district's Kita Sorachi area, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, was revived and held in Fukagawa City last year, and this year it was Hokuryu Town's turn.<\/p>\n
Our country is currently facing a long-term economic downturn, including a declining birthrate, an aging population, a declining population, and a weak yen, and our lives have changed dramatically.<\/p>\n
For example, in the Kita-Sorachi region, the JR railway lines have been discontinued and the Chuo Bus system has withdrawn its routes, resulting in inconvenience in securing transportation when going to medical institutions or buying daily necessities.<\/p>\n
In addition, for those of us elderly people who have already voluntarily surrendered our driver's licenses, and those who will have to consider returning them at some point in the future, the recent reality is that anxiety about our livelihoods has suddenly increased.<\/p>\n
I believe this is the case in other local governments, but in Hokuryu Town, Mayor Shin Sasaki, who is also participating, is seriously tackling these issues, and we have high hopes for him.<\/p>\n
After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year marks the second year since the group's return, and our activities have focused on exchange. Although we have limited time today, we hope that this training session will be of some use to you.<\/p>\n

Many of the current secretariat directors have previously worked with us in various regions, and we hope that they will continue to work in the secretariat.<\/p>\n
I was appointed mayor in February of this year. I was looking forward to this event, including the content. Mr. and Mrs. Terauchi, who will be giving today's lecture, are my classmates (same grade) and have been sharing a lot of information with me.<\/p>\n
Whether I turn 67, 77 or 88, my feelings will remain the same, and I want to continue working hard, staying positive, and with a big smile and a bright attitude like a sunflower.<\/p>\n

- Arteriosclerosis occurs in blood vessels throughout the body, narrowing the blood vessels and reducing the supply of enzymes and nutrients to organs. (Symptoms include shortness of breath, high blood pressure, stomach upset, constipation, diarrhea, and osteoporosis.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
