On Tuesday, May 21st, starting just after 10:00, 12 fifth graders from Hokuryu Town's Shinryu Elementary School (Principal Kamata Sadao) had the opportunity to plant rice in the rice fields of Takada Co., Ltd. in Mitani, Hokuryu Town.<\/p>\n

At the elementary school, fifth graders are learning about rice cultivation during their comprehensive studies class.<\/p>\n

This time, at the request of the elementary school, the fifth graders were given the opportunity to plant rice, thanks to the arrangements made by Akimitsu Takada (60), chairman of the Hokuryu Town Agricultural Guidance Association. The seedlings planted were the "Nanatsuboshi" variety of rice.<\/p>\n

On the day of the event, there was some concern about the weather as it had been drizzling since the morning, but by the time the students arrived at the field, the rain had stopped and the rice planting experience began without any problems.<\/p>\n

On the day, Mayor Sasaki Yasuhiro joined the children in the barefoot rice planting experience! In addition, the principal of Shinryu Elementary School, Kamata Sadao, visited to encourage them and took some great photos!
