Soba Gourmet Club Hokuryu (Chairman: Naokazu Nakamura)

Soba lovers' club "Soba Shokurakubu Hokuryu (Chairman: Naokazu Nakamura)" will be serving freshly made soba (buckwheat noodles) on the spot. The freshly made soba noodles (Kitawase buckwheat flour produced in Hokuryu-machi) are served on the spot!

Soba Shokurakubu Hokuryu (Chairman: Naokazu Nakamura), a club of soba lovers in Hokuryu Town, was established on April 4, 2004 (Heisei 16), and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It currently has 26 members (youngest 23 years old to oldest 79 years old).

Certified by the All Japan Noodle Culture Promotion Council (Zenmenkyo), this is a soba-noodle making club where Chairman Naokazu Nakamura (6-dan in soba making), Mitsue Kawabe (5-dan), and many other members (8 Yondan, 8 Sandan, 7 Nidan, several Shodan, etc.) practice and enjoy making soba every month.

The town's soba-making masters will show off their skills in an effort to let as many Hokuryu residents as possible enjoy the delicious new "Kitawase" soba produced in the town this year.

The new buckwheat noodles have a rich aroma, are smooth, thin, and very tasty! I look forward to the new buckwheat noodles from Hokuryu-cho every year," said a local resident with a smile as he carefully savored the soba!

The menu includes morisoba, kakesoba, tempura (sweet potato, maitake mushroom, lotus root), kakiage, etc. Fresh noodles (4 servings) are also available for take-out.
